Children/Young Adults :: Student Essay Contest

Congratulations to the Finalists!

2020_Finalists.pngEach year the Friends of the La Jolla Library hosts an essay contest open to all 4th grade students served by the La Jolla Library. This year we were pleased to have well over 100 entries representing a total of 9 different schools.

Students were asked to write a response to the following essay topic: “Tell us about your favorite book and how it has had a personal impact on your life. How did it impact you and why?”

On Wednesday, March 4th, we honored and celebrated the top seven entries from the following students: Peter "Teddy" Wainio, Elsa Shuman Pettersson, Allegra Levisetti, AJ Hamson, Kamilla Herr, Harper Goff, and Charlotte Castagnola.

Each student read their essays allowed and received a certificate of accomplishment. Each finalist also received a gift card to Warwick’s and the grand prize winner also received a lovely journal to encourage them to continue writing.

This year's grand prize winner is Elsa Shuman Pettersson! Congratulations to all of our finalists!
