PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the Friends of the La Jolla Library. As the school year begins again,
we are thrilled to announce that we are sponsoring a wonderful new program for children—the Roots and Shoots
Program created by world-famous researcher and conservationist Jane Goodall.
And we are most honored that Dr. Goodall will make a special visit to the La
Jolla Library on October 4th. At this visit she will talk to the children who have signed up at one of our
school clubs, but this event will be open to the public, with a fee for
adults.
If you happened to wander through the library in the middle of August, then no
doubt you had a special treat—the beautiful music of the La Jolla Summerfest. Once again, our library hosted
master workshops, a well-attended and much anticipated tradition for our Friends who love music. We were
honored to be a venue once again.
In the coming months, we will be the venue for everything from an adventurous
horsewoman who traveled across America alone—to the art of flower arranging--and the mysteries of eastern
healing –Tibetan Doctor Lobsang Dhondup will make a presentation here right after a forum in New York with the
Dalai Lama.
Don’t miss our special Veterans’ Day event like no other.
