From the time it was the “book room’ a hundred years ago until now, the La Jolla Public Library
has been built and rebuilt by the efforts of a group of citizens-the Friends.
We made the first library in the 13-library system of San Diego and on March 27, 2004 we opened the library
of the 21st century. Our membership chair reminds us that Friends 2004 renewals are now due. If you
haven't yet renewed for 2004, don’t let your
membership lapse. We will have some exciting “behind the scenes” tours and other opportunities for
the Friends in the next few months. Do plan to join us- as a Friend, a volunteer, or just as a
celebrant of learning!
And, if you are not already a Friend, we invite you to join and enjoy all the special activities
and services that the library offers. It has been a crucial part of village life for many
decades. Whether you take out a book, come to hear a lecture, watch a movie classic, or ride the
information highway, we believe you will need the library... and the library needs you!
If you'd like to join us, just fill out our printable membership form and mail it back. Please consider joining the Friends of the La Jolla Library today!
